Marie Serruya began sculpting heads at thirteen. Since then, she has followed the endless thread of the human face, obsessively, almost frenetically, through centuries, stories, characters and lives. Hundreds of faces later, she still digs into history, searching through the people and stories that fascinate her, transforming what she finds into her own sculptural language. Here, she turns to Arcimboldo’s Spring, and gives it a little more joy.

Sculpted with the same old nail file that belonged to her grandmother, the tool that has accompanied Marie since the very beginning, The Arcimboldo is both a tribute to an Old Master and a continuation of Marie’s lifelong obsession: the infinite faces of humanity.
